My telecommunications career spans more than 40 years, during which time I have worked for a variety of organizations, including carriers and service companies, on a global basis. These include senior engineering positions in the design, installation and maintenance of telecoms infrastructure and high-level sales management positions, including Global Account Director for a major integrated oil company.
During this time, I have learnt that any new offering by start-ups or established players needs to be fully scrutinised and not taken at face value. I have an in-depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry, in particular satellite and mobile communications – predominantly within the energy sector – and I am passionate that new technologies brought to market should fit for purpose within the verticals they are intended for.
I have been responsible for bringing a number of disruptive communications solutions to market, including the first online credit card authorisation application for petrol service stations, an innovative phonecard system for offshore installations and an international SIM card solution. As well as this, I have been instrumental in delivering complex satellite communication systems in the most challenging of environments globally.
Having this extensive experience means that I can identify if a new venture or start-up has a product or service portfolio, which will work and has a viable value proposition.
I am a qualified telecommunication engineer and hold a Bachelor of Arts Diploma in World Class Sales Management from Leeds Beckett University.
